Our Board of Trustees



Jack McConnell is the Founder and Chair of the Board of Trustees of the McConnell International Foundation. He is the youngest First Minister of Scotland, serving from 2001 to 2007. He was appointed to the House of Lords on 28 June 2010 as Lord McConnell of Glenscorrodale. His parliamentary interests include peacebuilding, international development, and opportunities and support for vulnerable youngsters.  Read more.





Susan Dalgety is a writer, communications expert and researcher with a focus on women in politics, sub-Saharan Africa and poverty. She is currently working with the Scotsman, the Active Learning Centre in the University of Glasgow, ProjectScotland and Utility Aid. Current international projects include a democracy programme with the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus of Malawi and a cascade training programme with the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus of Ethiopia. She is vice-chair of the Scotland Malawi Partnership.  Read more.




Lorna has been Chief Executive at the Law Society of Scotland since January 2009. Since joining she has led the Society’s staff team in delivering a program of modernisation, which has included improvements in the Society’s transparency, governance arrangements, outreach to members and stakeholders and efficiencies in business processes. Owen Kelly was appointed as Chief Executive of Scottish Financial Enterprise (SFE) in January 2008. SFE is a broadly-based representative organization, funded by its members. Its purpose is to promote the Scottish financial services industry and Scotland as an international financial centre. SFE’s membership is diverse and it includes some of the world’s largest banks, insurers and asset managers, as well as companies providing specialist support services, universities and government agencies.  Read more.
