The foundation’s main programme is Keep Girls in School in Malawi.

Since 2021, we have worked with WOLREC – one of Malawi’s leading women’s rights organisations – to support girls in four districts. We started with 100 and doubled it to 200 girls for this academic year. With match funding from the TUUT Charitable Trust and Keep a Child Alive, we pay their annual school fees, provide uniforms and stationery, and are developing post school support as well as classes in reproductive health.

Many of the girls are the first in their family to get the opportunity to complete their secondary education, and that is thanks to the generosity of our supporters, but also their personal commitment and the support of their families.

2024 is the Africa Union’s first ‘Year of Education’ with a particular focus on girls. Africa is the only region in the world not have achieved gender parity at any level in the education system. National budgets remain the principal source of education funding, but governments, including Malawi’s, struggle to cover essentials such as teacher training, salaries, even books. That is why there are fees for secondary education in Malawi, which puts it out of reach of many, many children.
